The Art of Connection

Everyone has an opinion about what truly connects us as human beings. Is it God? Is it love? Is it emotion? Perhaps money or sickness? Regardless of your opinion, I have found that connection can be felt most heartily around a table. The basic conversation starters for example…

  • Would you like some more wine?
  • Wow, that is some good bread.
  • I know I’m weird, I actually put peanut butter on my grilled cheese.

No matter where you are in the world, whether you speak English or not, it is an honor to be invited into someone’s home. It is even more special if they cook for you. Don’t despair if the food is new or looks unappetizing – all food should be given a chance. It may have been cooked with love!

  • Heated up pizza rolls may be all they can afford!
  • Life is too short to live on Keto forever. Yes, it may be the best “recommended” diet for epileptics. However, enjoy some Gelato in Italy, order freshly baked bread in France, and gobble up the lamb and rice stuffed grape leaves in Greece!

I really need to finish my meals with coffee more frequently.

Food, regardless of its appearance, may have been prepared with love. I encourage you to try a variety of foods, while your experiences may differ, there are many unique flavors that have connected people worldwide for thousands of years.

For us with epilepsy, I discourage anyone from having any excess of any food.

Just in case anyone was still here and wondering – Greek yoghurt tastes so much better in Greece. There’s just something about it; I’m not quite sure yet.
