Look Beyond our Obstacles

This Blog’s name is in of itself a conundrum “Epilepsy on the Road.” One could argue that I’m ignoring the most blaring obstacle we come across as epileptics and people with seizure disorders – driving. We know of course, that a person should go at least six months without a seizure before sitting behind the wheel of a car. To this I am 100% in favor of.

However, I am not prepared to put my life on hold for 6 months while I wait 6 months (I’ve been waiting for 8 years now). I believe that epileptics and those with seizure disorders need to pull themselves up and get out “on the road” exploring this beautiful world in all that it has to offer.

One does not necessarily have to be on the road as a means of travel to be “on the road.” If we are looking for fulfillment, going back to school could be getting on the road. If we are looking for peace and spirituality, we can turn to faith, yoga and other exercises. When we are “on the road” we are moving forward, letting go of the disability for a moments’ peace.
